Artwork should fit the wall—not just the frame you happen to find. A print that looks large in your hands can feel surprisingly small once it is hanging above a sofa, bed, or wide piece of furniture.

A practical starting point

• Desk or shelf: smaller gift prints and framed portraits work well at close viewing distance.
• Small wall: one medium print or a compact grouping adds presence without crowding the space.
• Above a sofa or bed: choose a larger statement piece or a gallery whose total width relates to the furniture below it.
• Large open wall: use a substantial canvas, metal print, or multi-image arrangement so the photograph does not disappear.
